Project Dessau

In 2018, a biowaste fermentation plant with downstream composting was built on the site of the Dessau-Roßlau waste disposal plant at the edge of the landfill. Since 1 January 2019, the city's biowaste has been delivered here and recycled in-house. The composting plant (post-rotting) covers an area of 7,750 m² and is located on the plateau of the Kochstedter Kreisstraße landfill site. Fermentation residues from the biowaste fermentation plant are delivered here and processed into compost in a multi-stage process. Our GORE® Cover System is used in this process. Our plant can receive up to 13,000 tonnes of fermentation residue per year. The central location of the biowaste fermentation plant with post-rotting in the city of Dessau-Roßlau has had the positive effect of optimizing the disposal logistics for biowaste collection since the plant was commissioned in 2019.
