Windrow coverage – technically up to date & easy to handle.

From Plant Installation to Regular Operation
The new Terral composting facility near Novska, Croatia, was installed in mid-June 2026. The installation was followed directly by the cold commissioning of the system. During this phase, the technical processes and the interaction between the individual plant components were tested without regular material throughput. Full operation of the facility, including the GORE® Cover System, is scheduled to begin in August or September 2026.
The facility is designed for an annual capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes. It will process green waste and poultry manure, two input materials with distinctly different properties. Green waste provides structure and air-filled spaces within the composting mixture, while poultry manure offers a high nutrient content and strong biological activity. Combining the two material streams creates the basis for a stable process and a nutrient-rich final product.
Controlled Processing of a Demanding Mixture
The treatment of poultry manure places particular demands on aeration, moisture management and temperature control. Excessive compaction or an uneven oxygen supply can negatively affect the composting process. The UTV System allows the conditions within the windrows to be managed in a controlled manner and adjusted in response to changes in the material mixture.
The membrane cover helps maintain a suitable composting environment while also limiting odour and emission releases. This means that even a highly reactive mixture can be treated reliably without making the operational process unnecessarily complex.
Combining Regional Residual Materials as a Resource
Through this project, Terral is creating a treatment solution for organic materials generated within the region. Green waste and poultry manure are not regarded as separate waste streams but are instead combined and used as raw materials for producing valuable compost.
Following the completion of regular commissioning, the facility is expected to make a lasting contribution to the regional circular economy. The project in Novska combines agriculturally derived residual materials with a controlled technical treatment process and helps retain valuable nutrients within the regional material cycle.
