Composting Facility in Qatar
In Qatar, we have built a facility for a food producer that specifically returns organic waste to the agricultural cycle. Together with the operator, Lusail, we developed a solution that processes green waste and agricultural residues to produce high-quality compost.
Lusail is an agriculture-focused company with the goal of strengthening regional food production and making efficient use of existing resources.
Process reliability under extreme climatic conditions
The climatic conditions in Qatar pose unique challenges for composting. High temperatures, low humidity, and dry feedstock directly affect the biological process. Moisture is lost quickly, and stable composting conditions are difficult to maintain without targeted control.
The plant was therefore designed to specifically counteract these influences. Controlled process management ensures that temperature and moisture are kept within the optimal range and that decomposition proceeds reliably. At the same time, the design enables stable processing of various input materials.
Use of Residual Materials in the Agricultural Cycle
With a capacity of 10,000 tons per year, the organic materials generated are processed on-site and directly reused in agriculture. The compost produced improves soil quality and helps reduce the use of external fertilizers.
The project demonstrates how functional material cycles can be established even under challenging conditions. Organic residues are specifically used as a resource and returned to agricultural production.
