Nutrofertil, a long-established company in Portugal, has been producing high-quality fertilizers and substrates for over 40 years. Covering an impressive area of more than 146,000 m², the company manufactures a wide range of products that are widely used and appreciated in agriculture and horticulture. The company has made a name for itself through its commitment to quality and sustainability and is one of the leading manufacturers in Portugal.

Since March 2024, our new composting plant has been built at Nutrofertil in Santiago de Besteiros. This plant is designed to efficiently compost around 8,500 tons of horse manure, chicken manure and green waste per year. A key component of the plant is the GORE® Cover laminate, which is pulled over each windrow using our wrapping machine.

The GORE® Cover consists of a three-layer laminate that combines two high-quality, UV-stable textile fabrics and a waterproof and breathable semi-permeable membrane. This membrane protects the composting process from the weather and rain, while reliably keeping out odors, dust, germs and bacteria. At the same time, it allows air and water vapor to escape, resulting in an ideal microclimate for the microorganisms necessary for the rapid conversion of organic waste into high-quality compost.

We successfully commissioned this plant in week 37. This significant step is the result of a successful test last year, which convinced Nutrofertil of the impressive efficiency of our system.

For this project, we developed a platform specifically for Nutrofertil to hold the pulley, temperature sensor and sensor cable. With dimensions of 40 m x 8.8 m x 3.5 m, we installed four windrows to ensure smooth operation and maximum efficiency.
